The Novel Research Institute (http://www.novelresearchinstitute.org/) is a non-profit organization with 501(c)3 tax-exempt status whose aim is to promote the creation, organization and dissemination of knowledge.
- As the organization develops, we're keeping track of our ideas about "Best Practices" which should help things go smoothly!
- We're also maintaining a list of the Resources we use in our work.
- We also run a phone-based Seminar Series.
Roadmap
For comparison and some related information, please see this draft roadmap for PlanetMath.org. What we mean by "roadmap" may not be the standard meaning. This is supposed to be a realistic map of our activities. It's OK to include feature requests here, but we also need a sense of the "flow" that might enable us to get the requests met! For these reasons, the roadmap is somewhat non-linear; but it is also important to add details and stitch things together!
Topics of Concern
- We need to get into the habit of communicating about what we're planning to do. This is a good place to do that!
- Website improvements: workflow from "draft" to "production" instance, update files in /var/www/html/nri on linode server. Chris can copy them to the windows computer -- however, ideally we will have a command line operation to do that that anyone can run. We also need a way to come to consensus about what actually appears on the website to avoid internal edit wars!
- organizational email: novelresearchinstitute.org emails are set up
- organizational mailing lists: novelresearchinstitute.org mailinglists are not yet set up
- Information management: where information stays
- Arxana research and development
- Noosphere research and development
- Proofreading platform research and development
- transcluded TeX course packets based on FEM source code
- simple/preliminary course packets based on stitching together PDF files
